Aflac Group Launches 2012 Tackle Hunger Food Drive

Aflac Insurance Group is doing its part to tackle hunger in the Midlands. As part of the 2012 Souper Bowl of Caring, the insurance company is hosting a local food drive through Feb. 3, 2012, to benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank.

During this time Aflac employees can make financial contributions by participating in an internal blue jean campaign as well as collecting donations of food items. The food drive is open to the public, and members of the community can drop off their donations at Aflac's Devine Street Offices located on 2801 Devine Street during the hours of 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

"We are delighted to see how Aflac has expanded on our simple idea in a way that engages not only their employees, but the entire community," says Tracy Bender, President and CEO of Souper Bowl of Caring. "Everyone can do something to help our neighbors who are hungry and hurting, and we hope that this partnership makes it easier for people to get involved this year."

Aflac's activities are part of the national Souper Bowl of Caring effort, which includes thousands of groups using the energy of NFL Super Bowl game to fight hunger and poverty in local communities.

"As an employer and a neighbor in the community, Aflac is proud to host this food drive to help the Midlands tackle hunger," Aflac 2nd Vice President of Human Resources Chad Melvin said. "Our business is about taking care of policyholders across the nation in times of need, so we are happy to help people in need right here at home."
