Kroger Spare Change Program Helps the American Red Cross

Community partners, Kroger and NBC-5 have partnered together to help raise donations for local tornado relief efforts. Now through April 30th, 2012, customers can help local residents by donating their spare change at any Dallas-Fort Worth Kroger locations. Kroger will MATCH customer donations up to $50,000 and 100% of donations will benefit the American Red Cross.
Albertsons Stores Collect Donations for Salvation Army Diaster Relief Efforts in North Texas

Albertsons customers will be able to help provide relief to local area residents affected by the tornadoes that swept across North Texas this past Tuesday. A cash donation of $1, $3 and $5 can be made at the register and will support The Salvation Army's disaster relief efforts. "Albertsons stores and customers have traditionally stepped up to support the efforts of the The Salvation Army during times of national crisis," said Wayne Denningham, President Albertsons LLC Southern Division. "The impact of the devastating tornadoes in the DFW Metroplex will present recovery challenges for many weeks to come. Our in-store fundraising campaign gives us the opportunity to respond quickly to support the efforts of great organizations like The Salvation Army as emergencies arise." In-store donations at Albertsons locations in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas will be collected through April 27, 2012. Read more...
Non-profits in North Texas Need Your Help

On Tuesday, April 3rd, over 12 tornadoes touched down in Dallas/Fort Worth and surrounding areas. Hundreds of families lost their homes but thankfully no lives were lost. Many food pantries, homeless shelters and other local area non-profits are working together to help generate food, donations and volunteers for local area efforts. Thank you to all the Souper Schools of Caring that participated in this year's campaign. A special congratulations to Parkview Elementary in Fort Worth who met and exceeded their goal of collecting 2,000 food items for the Tarrant Area Food Bank and to the Speer Souper Stars in Arlington who collected over 1,000 food items for Mission Arlington. Raise Your Hand to Volunteer

Souper Bowl of Caring volunteers are still needed in this final weekend push for participation and donations. There are several hunger-relief agencies in our area and across the nation that are in need of volunteers to help sort through food, stock shelves and serve meals. So why not serve through Souper Bowl of Caring Service Blitz and help transform the time around the Super Bowl into the nation's largest celebration of giving and serving!
