Souper Bowl of Caring is looking for an independent contractor to develop, promote and implement our program in the South Texas area, including Houston and Austin.

Now through Sunday, pre-packed bags of food will be available for purchase and donation at area H-E-B, Kroger and Randalls stores. Just purchase and drop in the barrel at your store.

Scouts from the Sam Houston Area Council will come door-to-door to pick up food donations on Saturday, Feburary 4th, as part of the Souper Bowl of Caring. The food will be delivered to local pantries that same day.

Excitement was high in Texas this week as cheerleaders, boy scouts and marching bands led a pep rally and volunteered at the Houston Food Bank to kick off the 2012 Souper Bowl of Caring food drive in that area.

Young people from all across the city applied for the Local Youth Advisory Board - the first ever in Houston. Eight candidates were selected and met for an orientation meeting on Saturday, December 10th. The youth learned about Souper Bowl of Caring and shared ideas on how to spread the impact of this movement to other young people in our city.

They also teach youth ages 8 to 14 the best techniques for tackling on the field - and much more, in a week-long football camp. Dates are July 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Methodist Training Center. Students from West University Elementary were honored at the Harlem Globetrotter game on Saturday, January 30, as the school that collected the MOST food during Souper Bowl of Caring nationwide in 2010. Legendary Harlem Globetrotter Curly Neal stopped to pose with the winning class and their teacher Ms. Rawlinson and Principal John Threet before they went on the court at half-time.
