Brandywine Food Pantry
This year, Hope Lutheran Church Bowers collected food and other grocery items for the local Food Bank in our area. They had plenty of soup so we asked the congregation to bring other items, which they did and it was great success. We actaully called it the Non-Souper Bowl of Caring just so people knew not to bring soup this year.We are blessed to have generous people even in a smaller congregation!

St. Peter Youth Group making a positive difference
We held a Soup and Baked Potato dinner on Saturday 2/4/12. Donations only. We also collected money after all three Mass's of the weekend 2/4/12-2/5/12. When all was said and done we collected $1,197.21. Our receiving charity was the Marshall Community Food Pantry, which helps provide food for those less fortunate in our local community. We were amazed of the genorisity of everyone in our Parish and community.St. Peter Youth Group's 2012 Collection and St. Peter Youth Group
Miss Preteen New York heads up Pendleton Food Drive.
On Sunday February 5th Shania Brenon, who holds the title of Miss Preteen New York , helped raise almost $1,000 by encouraging the congregation of Pendleton Center United Methodist Church to support the Pendleton food Pantry by leading and choreographing a cheer. The cheerleaders of the church belong to school and competitive teams their community. The girls were able to rally many donations of Non-Parashable food items as well.Pendleton Center United Methodist Church's 2012 Collection and Pendleton Center United Methodist Church

The faces you see everyday...
"From this project I've realized the next student may not be as fortunate as I am. Every effort made by my group and I really helped me to see that together we all can make a change. Giving back doesn't mean just giving money and food, but it also means warming someones heart with joy when that person receives the help they need."-Khadijah Blythewood High School's 2012 Collection, Blythewood High School and God's Storehouse

our noisey soup kettles
We asked that the congregation save their change for a period of time. We then sent our youth thru with soup kettles to collect the change with the intent that we would make ALOT of noise. We were not disappointed!!!! We are planning on doing something similair next year but I have a few new "twists" to add!!!Apostle Presbyterian Church and Apostle Presbyterian Church
Prince of Peace Played for Caritas!
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Spokane WA expanded our participation in Souper Bowl of Caring this year by collecting on playoffs Sunday as well as Super Bowl Sunday. For 'Playoff Edition', we had youth holding four soup pots, each decorated with the logo of one of the four playoff teams. Our congregation gave the greatest support to the San Francisco 49ers that day. Of course, SF didn't make it to the Super Bowl, so on Super Bowl Sunday we suggested that those who threw their money behind SF...Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Youth's 2012 Collection and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Youth
Collection for Windsor Community Food Pantry
Windsor United Methodist Church colleded 114 lb. of food and $336 in case which is being used to replenish the shelves of our local food pantry following a holiday season that left supplies of canned meat, meal mixes and non-fat dry milk in dangerously low supply. The First Baptist Church of Windsor also participated in the collection but was not registered with the website. They filled three large boxes of food for the cause, as well.

Our youth performed a skit called "The Ripple" during the service. We had a couple actors unable to show so we had a couple of fill-ins and they were great! I am so proud of my Youth Group. We may be small but we have a lot of heart.Thank You

Youth Group of Shrewsbury Parish Collect Donations for Chestertown Food Bank!
Our Youth Group members, assisted by their Youth Leaders, collected donations from members after both services. A soup luncheon was held in the Parish Hall after the 2nd service. Soup was provided by Molly's Restaraunt in Kennedyville, Maryland. Our donation will assist the Chestertown Food Pantry for local residents in need of food and other personal items. Praise God for this wonderful ministry!Shrewsbury Parish, Shrewsbury Parish and Chestertown Food Pantry

The Living School kids estimated the weight of all of the food that was collected before we sent it to our Capital Area Food Bank. I took it in to have it weighed and it was an amazing 162 lbs.!!!!The Living School's 2012 Collection and The Living School
We Value the Opportunity to Help Others!!!!!
As the new pastor @ First Christian Church in Parkersburg, WV, I was excited to see how this congregation would respond to their first (of many) Souper Bowl of Caring events. Instead of holding soup pots and asking for donations, we offer soup, crackers and only water to drink and then ask our folks to pay what they would normally pay for a Sunday meal eating out. I emphasize that while we feel we are "sacrificing" by not having anything to drink but water, no desserts, and only crackers to go with...First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)'s 2012 Collection and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

This was a year we sold a pot of Taco soup for $50. A church member was having family over and wanted lunch! We had a great time together. Next year we are going to challenge the other congregations to join us! We also hope to start a community service blitz day. Leslie UCC and Leslie UCC
Every Penny Counts
During the three week period that my English class spent collecting money for Souper Bowl of Caring, I was amazed at how much money I raised alone. I contributed by doing a bake sale and raised $30 from that alone. I also went around in all of my classes and around the school carrying a cup and asked for pocket change from students and teachers. At the end of the day , my cup was filled with coins. Just by doing that, I realised that pennies, nickels, and dimes really do add up. Kim Stokes, Blythewood High School teacher and Souperbowl of Caring project adviser
The Souperbowl of Caring project has been tied in with our curriculum in my English classes. We have begun studying the Middle Ages, and we are focusing on knights who perform good deeds and use "might for right." Most importantly, however, I hope my students have learned compassion, empathy, humility, gratitude for what they have, and a desire to help those in crisis. I hope this project has instilled in them that it is their duty and responsibility to give back to their communities....Blythewood High School's 2012 Collection, Blythewood High School and God's Storehouse
