His Faithful Servants at St. Zachary Church

Over $1,000 collected this year again!

Our 2013 total is in for Souperbowl of Caring! We collected $1,038.21, comprised of mostly one-dollar bills! Isn't that amazing, how it adds up? It is being donated again to Catholic Charities, to restock their food pantry shelves so they can serve more people in need in the northwest suburbs, right here in our own neighborhoods. We pray that God will bless Catholic Charities in their work, bless the people whose lives they touch every day, and bless the hundreds who donated so that the hungry...

WOW Souper Bowl of Caring 2013

We hosted a chili and soup cook-off for the second year in a row and had 13 entries for the contest. Each soup and chili was fun and festive for the occasion. Raising over $5,000, our Souper Bowl of Caring event turned out exceptionally well. There were 28 teens from the St. Joseph Church WOW Group eager to help out with serving soups, greeting guests, and cleaning up. From start to finish there was a great outcome and response for yet another fantastic Souper Bowl year.

Soup, Chili & Bread

Our group is small, but mighty. Three youth from our group along with two former members (now young adults), two future members, and three adults made 115 two cup containers of: sweet potato minestrone, chicken vegetable with and without tortellini, corn chowder, clam chowder, lentil barley stew, meat and bean chili, and vegetarian chili. In addition to all those soups, 30 stuffed breads were made, cookies, and brownies, and sandwiches. Church members were supportive with helping to provide some...

Souper Bowl of Caring Collection 2013

This year we invited the youth groups of Grace Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church to join us in collecting food from the community. Together we covered our little village of Sutherland, NE from end to end, north to south and east to west. Because of the wind, some of the bags left on the door handles (for participants to fill and leave on their porch for us to pick up the following week) blew off their doors so the residents didn't even know we were having a food drive but those who...

Which Team Will Win?

We put two ice chests with a Super Bowl team's pennant over each one at our Welcome Center. People put their cans of soup in the ice chest of the team they wanted or thought would win the Super Bowl. Also, Soup Bowls were on the welcome center for monetary donations. Most of the people put their soup in the Ravens ice chest this year; successfully predicting the outcome of the Super Bowl. The members of Del City Christian Church enjoyed a fun way of collecting soup and donations for the Souper...

2013-Another Souper Campaign at United Church of Christ at Valley Forge PA!

We placed our Giving Tree at the front entrance of our church during the 2nd week of January, decorated with paper ornaments made from Soup Can Lables, and copies of the Souper Bowl of Caring logo. We hung the official posters at the church entrance, copied and distributed the SBoC bulletin insert throughout all the church pews, and made announcements during worship each week. People were invited to bring in canned or dry good food items to be collected under the Giving Tree. Our biggest draw for...

Souper Bowl Rematch 2013

This year we again squared off against two other churches in our deanery. The total overall that we collected was 14,529, and St. John Vianney Church in Orlando, FL, won again. But the true winners, of course, are the hungry in our community! Thank you, Lord, from whom all blessings flow!

Smyrna United Methodist Youth

Night in a Box

Our kids were touched by stories we discussed of homeless families and families dealing with food insecurity. They decided as a fund raiser to fast and spend the night night outside the weekend of Souper Bowl.
We had breakfast on Saturday morning, then participated in the Service Blitz. After we finished helping landscape and wash windows at Waterford, we headed back to church to help with some work around the church prior to setting up camp.
While there was some goofing off ...

Souper Bowl of Caring 2013 - FCA Sunday

Each year we hold our Souper Bowl of Caring on Super Bowl Sunday here at Oak Hill Baptist Church. This year four area churches joined forces in a friendly "SOUP WAR" Each church had to try and beat our winning record last year. Last year we collected 3,800 cans, so this year we wanted to exceed our goal. Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill, Gospel Tabernacle, Oak Hill Baptist, and Page Baptist Church all began scouring the local grocery stores buying up soup. Every time we went into a local store...

2013 Souper Bowl of Caring

On Super Bowl Sunday, our youth were out bright and early collecting non-perishable foods and money. Souper Bowl of Caring helps feed the hungry here in our area. We raised $232 which will be used for R.E.S.T. Regional Emergency Shelter Team which helps the homeless women and families with children in the Yuba-Sutter area. Also, 76 food items went into our food closet, which helps the local community around the Marysville area. Thank you to all who donated and participated in this years 2013 Souper...

Savannah United Methodist Church

Pastor

So, when the youth of Savannah UMC decided to do the Souper Bowl of Caring they were working on decorating the boxes for San Francisco and Baltimore. Someone came up with the idea of having a third box...the Box of Hopes & Dreams for Superbowl 48 (aka a Steelers' box). When the totals came in for the cans at the end of three Sundays of contributions, neither San Francisco nor Baltimore won. Pittsburgh did!! We have some serious Steeler fans in our congregation!!!

The OSL Youth passed the Soup Kettle prior to the church's annual meeting. As always, the congregation is very supportive and came through again this year. We appreciate their willingness to support the youth as they work to draw attention to those who go hungry each day.

Congregational "Soup"er Bowl Kick Off

Our small congregation is mostly made up of senior or "mature" members and a small number of youth. However, our whole church is very generous. We put a display table up in our Fellowship Hall that looks like a football field. We put up the logos of the teams that are in the playoffs and encourage our members to put their donations on the side of the table that they think will move ahead to the Super Bowl. The logos of the teams that have been eliminated are taken off each week. This is our own...

The St. Rita's Youth, Souper Bowl of Caring Event

This has become a parish wide event. On Friday 2/1/13 52 kids 1st-12th grade made 1,618 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the Casa Maria Soup Kitchen i Tucson, then 18 of our 6th-12th graders took those sandwiches to Casa Maria. Then Saturday afternoon was the start of our all night sleep out. The 45 6th-12th graders are homeless for a night. They go to our St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry and are given a canned vegetable or some rice or pasta to bring to our community soup. They do a...
