Today in Texas, nearly 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 4 children are hungry. The need for food assistance is a year-round call answered by food banks, partnering agencies and volunteers across the state.
In Austin, 61% of the children in the Austin Independent School District are eligible for a free or reduced lunch.
Join the hundreds of other groups in Austin who participate in the Central Texas Souper Bowl of Caring. Together, we can stock the shelves at the food banks, provide hot meals for families and feed the need in Central Texas.

Now through Sunday, pre-packed bags of food will be available for purchase and donation at area H-E-B, Central Market and Randalls stores. Just purchase and drop in the barrel at your store.

Scouts doing their part.

Scouts from the Capitol Area Council will come door-to-door to pick up food donations on or before Saturday, January 28th, as part of the Souper Bowl of Caring. The food will be delivered to local pantries that same day.

Souper Bowl of Caring Kicks Off in Texas

Excitement was high in Texas this week as cheerleaders, boy scouts and marching bands led a pep rally and volunteered at the Houston Food Bank to kick off the 2012 Souper Bowl of Caring food drive in that area.

We opened a temporary "grocery store" at our church where ten different items needed by our local food bank were displayed and priced at "Souper Bowl Foods". Shopping checklists were available so church members could easily order and pay for groc
