| Service Blitz
Still Have Questions?
- What if the charity you choose doesn’t have a physical location at which to serve?
We know that not all worthy recipients of Souper Bowl of Caring collections have physical locations. If this is the case, select a separate charity as the location for your Service Blitz. This works best when the charity selected for the Service Blitz addresses issues similar to those addressed by the charity selected to receive donations. For example, if you are giving your collections to a local food bank, consider volunteering at a food pantry affiliated with that food bank.
- What if there are more youth to volunteer than there is work to be done at the charity?
Sometimes local charities do have physical locations, but they are too small to accommodate large groups. If this is the case, expand your Service Blitz to include other related charities in your area and divide your group of youth among them. It’s nice to serve at the same charity to which you are giving, but it’s also very important to have enough work that the youth feel they are actually doing something to help.
- What if the charity you choose isn’t open on Saturdays?
We suggest doing your service the day before collection day, so that the experiences at the charity are fresh in the minds of the youth when they collect donations. However, we know that some charities are only open Monday through Friday, or other scheduling conflicts may occur. If this is the case, move your Service Blitz to the week before the Super Bowl, instead of that Saturday. Or, if your group is large enough, suggest that the charity open for a special Saturday for your group alone.
