K. Estep :: Bruceville-Eddy HS Beta Club Eddy, TX :: 2008

Our high school Beta Club officers collected food during the Souper of Caring on our four school campuses for the first time this year. It was a time to interact with the younger students and take care of a need in their own community. They are delivering to the pantries today, and will share the need for volunteers in each of the four local pantries/kitchens at our next Beta Club meeting this Tuesday. They are making a commitment to serve these charities throughout the year.

:: St. Joseph Youth Ministry Bogota, NJ :: 2010

We are trying hard to collect as much as we can by going to neighbors, friends and family to help and collect.

Mrs. Dennemann :: St. Thomas School Ft. Thomas, KY :: 2010

In 2009 the students collected 600 cans of soup for St. Bernard food pantry. As a reward the entire school went bowling!

Dakota Danner, 6th grader :: DeFranco Elementary - Project Success Bangor, PA :: 2010

I would like to help with the Souper Bowl of Caring because there's a lot of people that go to bed early without food, so this could help a lot.

Robert Lohman, 5th grader :: DeFranco Elementary - Project Success Bangor, PA :: 2010

I feel like this is a good thing. It makes me feel good inside. I helped put boxes in the classrooms. I am going to try to bring 15 cans. The soup fun raiser will be the best thing we ever did!

Brianna Espinoza, 5th grader :: DeFranco Elementary - Project Success Bangor, PA :: 2010

It makes me feel good because it is a nice thing to do for people.

Brittney Nystrand., 5th grader :: DeFranco Elementary - Project Success Bangor, PA :: 2010

I feel glad that Project Success is nice for participating in this idea.

Becky Stephens :: University Heights UMC Decatur, GA :: 2010

We are a small church near Atlanta, and are already giving to Haitian relief, so our Souper Bowl of Caring soup and chili lunch will go on as scheduled this Sunday, 1/31. We will report as soon as possible how much food and money will go to our new community partner, Decatur Cooperative Ministries.

Mary :: First Christian Church Kokomo, IN :: 2010

Because the Indianapolis Colts are in the Super Bowl and our congregation has a tradition of wearing Colts attire, we are strongly urging them to donate $5 to wear Colts blue or $10 if they wear the other team's colors. Children under 12 years old only have to donate a quarter.

Myra Kesner :: Christ Community church Augusta, WV :: 2010

We are working with another church in our area. The label on the small cans of soup says that it will feed 2.5 people. We are hoping to see a headline in our local paper that reads something like this "CCC and MT View AG feeds 5,000."

Jacqueline Pickens :: Alcott Elementary School Houston, TX :: 2010

This is my first year to participate in this great fundraising event to help the hungry. This fun activity involves our students and staff donating non-perishable food items starting January 19th-February 5th. All donations will go to the Houston Food Bank. The fun part involves a contest between teams and a celebration at the end. We have seven teams participating and every Friday we do a count to see who is in the lead. Last Friday was our first count and all our teams are doing great. When we first started the fundraiser I said to myself, “I hope we raise at least 1,000 non-perishable food items. That would be great!!”
Our total count as of last Friday was 1,180 non-perishable food items, and we still have two more Fridays to collect. I cannot wait to see how many more non-perishable food items we will collect. It gives me pleasure to see everyone coming together students and staff for a great cause. I look forward to seeing what our total will be.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Pickens

Pamella J. Booth, Youth Director :: Rustburg United Methodist Church Rustburg, VA :: 2010

I want to say, "THANK YOU!" to Souper Bowl of Caring. I have recently read the questions regarding using 2010's donations for Haitian relief. I didn't need to read your answer - I knew that each and every participant is able to select their charity. That is what is SO WONDERFUL about your organization. This year our Youth are collecting paper and plastic items to donate to the "Homeless Veterans" project sponsored by Gleaning for the World. This charity was selected long before the earthquake hit Haiti. Not only will our donations help veterans but also they will replenish the Gleaning for the World warehouse depleted by recent shipments to Haiti. Once again, THANK YOU for giving your participants the ability to select their charities and help those in need locally and globally!
